Preservation is not the refusal to change.
New Orleans has always changed. The question is whether a change preserves the city’s accumulated knowledge or treats every block as empty land with inconvenient buildings on it.
NOPSI supports repair, adaptation, stewardship, local ownership, and the stubborn survival of useful old things.
Progress should leave New Orleans more itself, not less.
The preservation ledger is being assembled.
It will document long-time businesses worth supporting, landmarks worth watching, losses worth remembering, and practical ways to help before concern becomes an obituary.
